What is Microcement?

Microcement is a type of decorative cementitious coating applied to floors, walls and other surfaces to achieve a sleek, seamless, and contemporary look. It consists of a polymer-modified cement-based mixture that is highly versatile and can be applied thinly, typically ranging from 2 to 3 millimetres thick.

Microcement is known for its durability, water resistance, and flexibility, making it suitable for various indoor and outdoor applications. It is often used as an alternative to traditional tiling, concrete, or other flooring materials due to its smooth finish and ability to adhere to different surfaces like wood, tiles, or concrete without the need for extensive demolition preparation work.

Microcement is available in a variety of colours and textures, allowing for customisation to suit different design preferences and architectural styles.

Microcement or tiles?

  • Microcement offers a seamless, modern look with customisable colours and finishes.

Tiles provide a wide range of design options including patterns, textures, and shapes.

  • Microcement can be applied directly to existing surfaces reducing renovation time.

Tiles involve more labour-intensive installation, including subfloor preparation and grouting.

  • Microcement is resilient, waterproof, easy to clean and maintain.

Tiles are durable and resistant but, grout lines require regular cleaning and maintenance.

  • Microcement initial costs may be higher due to specialised materials and skilled labour.

Tiles vary in price due to installation costs, which can fluctuate based on complexity.

  • Microcement can enhance property value due to its durability and modern appeal.

Tiles give a timeless and classic appeal and may contribute to property value.

  • Microcement is very versatile - can be applied on floors, walls, countertops, and furniture.

Tiles are suitable for diverse surfaces and areas, allowing for intricate patterns and designs.
